What's an Audience

The Audience defines the conditions a visitor must meet to be included in an experiment. It determines who sees your variations and where on your website the experiment is applied.

Setting up the Audience correctly is crucial for several reasons:

  • Ensures the experiment runs only on the intended page or section of your site.
  • Prevents tracking visitors who never actually see the variation changes, keeping your results accurate.
  • Allows you to target specific segments of visitors (e.g., based on referrer, device or particular behaviors) to gain more meaningful insights.

In short, the Audience controls both eligibility and scope of your experiment, making sure you measure impact only on the right visitors.
